Doctor Antonio Augusto Moura da Silva
Dr. Antonio Augusto graduated in Medicine at the Federal University of Maranhão (1984), Master's degree (1990) and PhD (1997) in Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto - University of São Paulo. Held postdoc in Perinatal Epidemiology at the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit, University of Oxford, 2003. He is currently professor of the Department of Public Health, Federal University of Maranhão. It is associate editor of Reports in Public Health, Epidemiology associate editor of Science & Collective Health and section editor of the Journal of Epidemiology. He is a member of the Abrasco Epidemiology Committee. His work in public health area has emphasis on Epidemiology, acting on the topics: low birth weight, infant mortality, premature birth, Caesarean section and obesity. Currently coordinates the second study of perinatal cohort of St. Louis (study BREEZE), started in 2009 with the aim of studying new risk factors for preterm birth.
